Experian's Insight Reports

Quarter 1, 2010

Our latest insight report "Fighting fraud in the Government's age of austerity" looks at how £1bn of savings can be delivered through better fraud detection in the public sector.
Over £1 billion paid out in fraudulent benefit claims and social housing provision could be eradicated quickly if simple, cost-effective and proven fraud prevention techniques were implemented more widely across the public sector.
According to Experian’s Public Sector experts, business savings could be made without needing new computer systems and could deliver an immediate crack down on incapacity benefit, social housing and council tax fraud.  Based on its existing work with Government and its experience of tackling fraud in the public and private sector, Experian estimates that over £1 billion could be claimed back for the tax payer and public purse.
