Consumers, clients & data protection

Experian takes the rights of all citizens very seriously.  We have specialised, consumer contact teams who deal with thousands of phone calls, emails and letters daily. These teams process requests from consumers to access their personal data, and any subsequent amendments that may be required.  We empower the individual to view their credit information, and provide expert guidance and assistance in interpreting it.

Experian are regulated by the Information Commissioner's Office under the Data Protection Act 1998. This legislation places strict controls on Experian to ensure that data is held for appropriate purposes, and for reasonable time periods. It also affords the individual the right to access the data which is held about them. Any data we hold can only be used for the purposes prescribed to it, and we have stringent internal processes in place to ensure the correct application of our products and services.
