Information security

As custodians of our clients’ data, we take information security very seriously. We recognise the potential legal implications and reputational damage for us, and for our clients, if data were to be compromised.

Experian handles millions of items of data on behalf of its clients, and stringent checks are completed on all data before, and during, the loading process in order to ensure it is as accurate as possible.

Experian carry out rigorous background checks for all new employees prior to offers of employment, as well as ensuring that all employees are trained and regularly briefed on Experian’s Data Protection and Data Security policies and processes which must be followed.

Our offices operate 24 hour security and surveillance. Access to areas which handle consumer and client data is restricted. Access to computer systems and records is also closely regulated. We have a Global Information Security Policy in place, which is based on a well-recognised international framework for such policies, ISO 27002, along with a robust Business Continuity strategy.

Experian owns a state of the art data centre which utilises the latest technology and physical security methods to ensure the highest possible levels of data security. We also regularly assess the storage of data, and who has access to it, and ensure all necessary steps are taken to mitigate any risks to data security.
